Free guided tours of the exhibition ‘Myths and Possibilities’
Every two weeks, our guides will take you along enchanting medieval books and intriguing works of art from today. We will see books and works of art that explore the boundaries of reality and create new worlds. Sometimes they offer attractive alternatives to our current world, such as Utopia by Thomas Moore. Other books claim a reality that never existed, such as travelogues in which the writer confirms prejudices about faraway places, such as the 15th-century Liber chronicorum by Hartman Schedel. The works of art by Laure Prouvost, Fiona Lutjenhuis and Rens Krikhaar, among others, also show new worlds, each with their own fascinating stories. Can and do we want to believe in the realities shown? Or should we be critical?
